Leonardo Hurtado, Gerente Nacional de la Cátedra del Pensamiento del Maestro José Antonio Abreu

Venezuelan, born in San Juan de los Morros, Guarico state. He began his musical studies at the age of 8 in the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela of the Guárico state, San Juan de los Morros nucleus. At the age of 11, he assumes the role of director of the Children’s Symphony Orchestra of his nucleus, in San Juan de los Morros, thus becoming the youngest principal conductor of orchestras in the region.
He was trained under the tutelage of the teachers: José Antonio Abreu, Maurice Hasson, Mario Benzecry, Ronny Rogoft, José Francisco del Castillo, Sergio Celis, Pablo Vásquez, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Sergio Bernal, Sun Kwak, Serguei Pileskof, Miguel Monroy, among others.
He studied at the Latin American Violin Academy, under the tutelage of the teachers José Francisco del Castillo and Sergio Celis, and at the Simón Bolívar Superior Conservatory of Music, in the city of Caracas, in addition to serving as an instructor of the Violin department of the cited conservatory.
He completed higher studies at the School of Physics (IV semester) and at the School of Art (VI semester) of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV); He graduated from the Rómulo Gallegos University in the I Class of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, obtaining the title of Bachelor of Public Accounting-Cumlaude Honorable Mention; Universidad Experimental Libertador, El Mácaro Rural Pedagogical Institute of the Comprehensive Education School, obtaining the title of Professor in Comprehensive Education-Sumacunlaude Honorable Mention (1st academic index); advanced postgraduate studies with: Specialization in University Teaching, Doctorate in Educational Sciences at the Rómulo Gallegos University (Unerg), postdoctoral: Training of Tutors, postdoctoral: Improvement of Philosophical Systems and Currents.
He served as titular director of the Nucleus of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of San Juan de los Morros, professor at the Rómulo Gallegos University (Unerg), Universidad Experimental Libertador (IPR El Mácaro), national academic manager of the Simón Bolívar Program of El National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela until 2019.
Currently, he works as a professor of the Research Chair at the Rómulo Gallegos University (Unerg), national manager of the José Antonio Abreu de El Sistema’s Chair of Thought.
