Erika Colon
President of the Fundación El Sistema Connect in Japan
She is a lyrical soprano with an international career. She was born in Venezuela and studied pedagogy at the University of the Sacred Heart, Tokyo and did a postgraduate degree in the same field.
She later studied singing at the Royal Academy of Music in London and graduated with honors. The same year she made her debut at London’s Wigmore Hall, initiating her lyrical career in France, England, and Italy.
In 2019 she won the Grand Prix at the International Singing Competition in Tokyo. She has released 3 solo albums, one of them signed King Records of Japan.
She has dedicated part of her career to the interpretation of the Hail Mary composed by her father Eric Colon, consecrating it to the burned statue of the Virgin Mary in Nagasaki.
In 2017 she started the White Hands Choir of Japan as her artistic director, achieving the Choir’s debut at the Opera Super Angels at the National Theater of Japan, receiving rave reviews. She is currently president of the Connect System Foundation in Japan.
